Solicitors Guideline Rate
Steadfast Solicitors Ltd is primarily focused on litigation and as such we are mindful of the Solicitors’ guideline hourly rates.

The usual rule in the Civil Court is that the lower pays the winners costs. There are exceptions to this, for instance in the small claims Court.

In order to decide how much should be awarded, the Court will assess the reasonableness of the time spent on various pieces of work; they will also consider the hourly rate of the various people involved.

Guidelines have been prepared, these are routinely used in the decision making for the assessment of costs. This information can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/solicitors-guideline-hourly-rates.

Steadfast Solicitors is based in NW2 post code, this is London grade 3.

Chris Tuckett is a grade A Solicitor
Arash Andalibi-Abadan is a grade C Solicitor

The below is accurate as of the 1 October 2021 and taken from the above mentioned website. The previous guideline rates were decided in 2011

Grade Fee earner London 1 London 2 London 3 National 1 National 2
A Solicitors and legal executives with over 8 years’ experience £512 £373 £282 £261 £255
B Solicitors and legal executives with over 4 years’ experience £348 £289 £232 £218 £218
C Other solicitors or legal executives and fee earners of equivalent experience £270 £244 £185 £178 £177
D Trainee solicitors, paralegals and other fee earners £186 £139 £129 £126 £126

Impact of the Solicitors Guideline Rates
If the Solicitor that you instruct is charging £350 + VAT per hour and he is a grade B based in Bristol. He will only be able to charge for a National Grade 1 rate or up to £218 + VAT an hour.

Correspondingly, even if you are successful in the litigation, you will have to fund the difference, in this case (for a Bristol Solicitor) it will be £350 – £218, a short fall of £132 + VAT for each and every hour that your own Solicitors claims.

Other Hourly Rates
We are willing to negotiate on this.

Other potential funding structures

Conditional Fee Agreements.
It is rare that we will enter these, however, we will consider them.

We are also willing to consider a partial conditional fee agreement, in such an agreement a reduced hourly rate would be agreed which has to be paid initially, however the rest would be contingent on the whether the case was successful.

Damages Based Agreement
A damages based agreement is an agreement between this firm and our client, whereby you agree to pay a percentage share of the damages if the case is won against the opponent.

It is rare that we will enter these.

Disbursements
These are payment made on behalf of the client. These include Court fees, Barristers fees, Land Registry Fees etc. Usually these will not be included in a Conditional Fee agreement or a Damages Based Agreement.
